Project Overview
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is a vast property with 750 guest rooms and 300,000 square feet of event space, including two conference centers designed to host both intimate executive retreats and large-scale meetings. Attracting corporate, as well as leisure travelers, is critical to the hotel’s revenue stream.
To maintain this resort’s status as a top Scottsdale destination, Strategic Hotels initiated a $37M redevelopment project – engaging PDSI to oversee transformation of guest rooms, public spaces, and event spaces. Strategic knew well our expertise with projects of this scope and scale, and counted on PDSI to help make smart decisions about where to allocate capital. In one instance, we identified an opportunity to repurpose real estate to create a pool with a white sand beach. Known as “Sunset Beach,” this pool oasis has proved to be a landmark amenity that delights visitors to the hotel.
All innovations, including the new pool, had to be complete before the next peak season, so PDSI implemented a fast-track process of design and deliverables. This entailed a certain risk, in that the City reviewed drawings prior to zoning approval, but it was one worth taking. Our creativity, commitment and prudent risk-taking resulted in superb new conference facilities and recreational features that confirm the Scottsdale Princess as a preeminent destination for both corporate and leisure travelers.
