Project Overview

The Hard Rock Hotel Chicago is a four-star hotel in downtown Chicago situated in the Carbide & Carbon Building, an Art Deco landmark built in 1929. The major investor in the hotel learned that critical issues were impeding development, matters that needed to be immediately addressed and quickly resolved. The investor hired PDSI to identify the most pressing points of concern, create a recovery plan, get the project on track, and take over project management responsibilities.

PDSI’s ability to take a leadership role was crucial to the success of the Hard Rock project. Our team was able to engage all parties and act as a skillful mediator in order to promote a positive, collaborative atmosphere. By utilizing our communication skills to broker challenging interactions, everyone performed well and briskly moved the project ahead to our goal – a job well done.

With that goal foremost, the PDSI team took the initiative to make strong recommendations and push decisions we knew were right for this specific project. It takes courage to present innovative ideas, and when PDSI recommended the purchase of a small lot adjacent to the hotel we saw its potential, which has ultimately proved its worth. That once-derelict lot is now a revenue-generating rooftop restaurant and ballroom, part of a beautiful and unique hotel that has brought the owner an excellent return on investment.
