Mr. Pla is Project Director for the PDSI San Juan operations group. He brings over 29 years of Architectural, Planning and Project Management experience to his position. In this role, Fernando is responsible for leading, developing, and ensuring his department evaluates, defines and controls all aspects of all projects being managed through the San Juan office. This role includes responsibility for project management and leadership of all PDSI’s initiatives required to achieve innovative solutions and provide the highest level of service to support our hospitality owners, investors, and operators. He is known as a good mediator and has demonstrated success in managing client expectations with delivering projects on time and on budget.
Prior to joining PDSI, Mr. Pla was the Director of the Office of Development & Infrastructure for the University of Puerto Rico. He was tasked with directing the capital investment program for 11 campuses and 7 agricultural substations at the University consisting of 11 million square feet of construction (almost 4700 acres). Fernando also oversaw the Office of Design & Construction, the Office of Bid Procedures for Capital Improvements, and the Office of Occupational Safety while at the University of Puerto Rico.
Mr. Pla has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Houston. He is passionate about working on projects that contribute to the betterment of society. Fernando feels buildings should do more than just house people, but it should be a symbol of a better reality, and a better tomorrow. He has provided pro bono architectural services for several causes including the Hogar Jesus de Nazareth orphanage, the master plan for the city of Mayaguez, and has served as the Director of Urbanism Commission for the College of Architects.
